FULL TEXT OF WHAT YOU WILL FIND AT THE PROVIDED LINK:
To Our beloved Son, Paul Bottalla, Priest of the Society of Jesus, Professor of Theology in the College of S. Beuno, North Wales.
PIUS THE NINTH, POPE, wishes Health and Apostolic Benediction.
-- Among the admirable proofs of obedience and of sincere devotion which, especially in these latter times, We have received from England, We gladly reckon the two volumes which you have written in English upon the subject of the Church and the Roman Pontiff. Although the difficulty of an unknown language has prevented Us from reading any portion of this work, yet We know by sure information that in the composition of this work you have done all that befits a pious and learned champion of the Pontifical dignity. Wherefore We congratulate you with all Our heart, and while We thank you for the gift which you have offered to Us, We look forward to abundant fruit to be reaped in consequence of your toil; when through its influence light shall shine to them that sit in darkness, and they that are weak in faith shall be strengthened. Meantime, in testimony of Our peculiar affection, We with much love impart to you Our Apostolic Benediction.
Given at Rome, at S. Peter's on the 20th day of July, 1870, in the twenty-fifth year of Our Pontificate. Pius IX, Pope.
